Good CoffeeBackYard brings the party once again to Coffee Works.  Great way tp spend a Saturday night.  Get a bottle of wine (or 2) and come on out for an evening of great covers and original music from BackYard.  Coffee Works has great snacks, sanwiches, and plnty of coffee drinks to round out the evening.  Never a Cover Charge!  Coffee Works is known as the Best Coffee House in South Jersey when it comes to the music they present and the atmosphere they present it in.  If you’ve never been there you owe it to yourself to check it out.  Always great entertainment and BackYard is always happy to play there.  Hope to see you there and in the mean time check out their website. www.coffee-works.com

Robert Hazard, the Philadelphia-raised musician, songwriter and a star of many Camp Jam Festivals, and the writer of hits such as Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” died yesterday, due to complications from pancreatic cancer. Hazard’s longtime friend and former manager Bill Eid confirmed the news earlier today. Robert Hazard would have been 60 on Aug. 21. Hazard had surgery in Boston last week related to his cancer. He had recently postponed tour dates due to his health. We all have memories of his music from the past and really dug his newer folkier material that we all got to hear at Camp Jam. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and those that were close to him. We’ve lost another friend and we will miss him.

Just a little follow up on the XPN Music Festival.

BackYard BobWe went back to Camden on Sunday, 7/13, and once again we were treated to another great summer day filled with tons of terrific live music.  All of the performances were fantastic but some of the highlights of the weekend were Joan Osbourne closing out the festival on Sunday night.  Preceeded by the one and only Shelby Lynn.  The Saturday night close with Michael Frante and Spearheard was also fantastic and I believe he had the entire place standing if not jumping to his music.  If you were there then you know the kind of energy that filled the place.  It was unbelievable.  Also on Saturday night we happened to be parked near Michaela Majoun so as we all waited for the garage to empty out and traffic to loosen up, we talked with Michaela and ate left over snacks while we raved about the festival.  Just hanging out on the roof of the parking garage.  Every XPN festival we have been to has been spectacular and this one again has gone one step better.  We are already looking froward to next year.
